Board of Selectmen · Meeting of January 20, 2026

North Brookfield selectmen chose a 20-year level-principal structure for the fire and highway projects' permanent borrowing. The Board of Selectmen voted by voice after the town accountant said the option saves about $415,000 in interest compared with level debt service, while adding roughly $70 to the average household's fiscal 2027 bill. Members rejected 27-year options, with one calling them "insanity." Permanent borrowing is expected in April.

The board also authorized the Senior Center as the official meeting place for committees without their own space, citing security concerns about keys to the Selectmen's office. Nine Senior Center keys are out, and a lockbox was floated as the fix.
