NORTH BROOKFIELD — Board of Selectmen approves fire grant corrective measures and holds Mt. Pleasant paving bid decision. The three-member board unanimously authorized $5,108.99 in budget transfers to cover Fire Department equipment purchased before a reimbursement grant was finalized, citing process lapses in how grant paperwork was submitted.

The board also unanimously approved a base payment of $48,105.00 to contractor ML Partlow while deferring the lowest-bid decision to a September 8 meeting, citing concerns about the low bidder's lack of similar project references and past performance issues on a nearby Fire Department project. A National Grid access agreement for equipment storage at a town substation was also tabled pending liability insurance clarification.
