Selectmen approve 20-year Fire/Highway loan to save $415,000

North Brookfield selectmen finalize Fire/Highway loan refinancing. The board voted unanimously to move a Fire and Highway project BAN anticipation note to permanent 20-year level principal borrowing, saving the town $415,000 in interest compared to a 27-year term, according to Town Accountant Shiela LeBlanc and Finance Committee Chair Joe Trentacosta. For an average home valued at $261,000, the annual cost will be approximately $0.88 per thousand dollars of assessed value.

The board also voted unanimously to designate the Senior Center as the official meeting location for boards and committees without dedicated office space, with plans to coordinate scheduling and key distribution with Senior Center Director Courtenay Rivera.
