Board of Selectmen · Meeting of August 25, 2026

North Brookfield Select Board advances landfill solar RFP and $78,025.66 paving deal. The board approved a request for proposals to develop a solar generating field on the town's 15-acre former landfill, an idea credited to resident Roger Brooks, while finalizing repaving costs for Starnard Court and Chase Road at $18,424 and $55,885.75 respectively. Members also approved four warrants totaling roughly $756,000 and heard that the $710,000 Mount Pleasant Street CDBG drainage project, overseen by the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission, closed bids this week.

The board unanimously appointed Patricia "Patty" Zegara to the Council on Aging board; Zegara said the Senior Center "saved my life" after her husband died during the pandemic. The board also accepted a $190.01 donation from the estate of Robert Salem for the Walnut Grove Cemetery and approved liquor licenses for Bennett Hill Events, a VFW benefit run, and Brookfield Orchards.
