Board of Selectmen · Meeting of October 20, 2026

North Brookfield Selectmen rejected a low bid and advanced a townwide pavement study. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to reject M.L. Partlow and Son's bid for the Mount Pleasant Street community development block grant project after the town's engineer, Haley Ward, flagged a mobilization fee of 4.27 percent against a 3 percent contract cap; Executive Assistant Mary Beth Kularski said the town faces a 60-day state deadline to act. The board also approved a 10-foot sewer easement for National Grid's Lashway substation project, a new Class II auto dealer license for Stephen Woods at 322 North Main Street, and a Chapter 90 contract extension with MassDOT through June 30, 2037.

The North Brookfield Community Food Collaborative, which serves roughly 174 people weekly, won approval for townwide donation bins ahead of a Thanksgiving distribution on November 19. "Food insecurity does not discriminate," said the group's representative, Karen. A separate pavement management contract with Stantec is expected to deliver road-condition data and repair priorities by the end of April.
