Selectmen approve Senior Center outreach cut
North Brookfield selectmen voted to cut Senior Center outreach visits over liability concerns.
Board of Selectmen · Meeting of January 27, 2026
North Brookfield selectmen voted to cut Senior Center outreach visits over liability concerns. The board approved a revised job description for the Senior Center Program Assistant, reducing the role from 18 to 15 hours a week after officials said "there was some liability issues ... with sending an outreach coordinator to residents." Members also accepted the resignation of outgoing assistant Megan Carney, approved $15,264.41 in combined reserve fund transfers for police, fire and highway repairs, and appointed Jessica Fulgham and Ernie Grimes to a newly downsized three-member Memorial Park Committee. Separately, the board said a Complete Streets grant has $76,116.59 remaining after contractor J&L Construction withdrew, stalling North Main Street sidewalk work.
Selectman Ralph Kay said a related snow removal coordination plan is "a little bit more complicated than I first thought."
