North Brookfield board accepts administrator's resignation

Board of Selectmen · Meeting of February 10, 2026

North Brookfield's Board of Selectmen accepted Town Administrator Ron Applante's resignation and cleared the Friends of the Townhouse to pursue a feasibility study for a partial reopening. Selectman Peter Orsi presented a Holden Hospital Funds request for tourniquets, AEDs and new police first-in bags, saying the departments "came up with an extensive list of items that we deemed very necessary for the town." Friends of the Townhouse representative Jim Buzzel outlined a basement renovation that he said "impresses both large and small-scale funders," with the group seeking no town construction money. The board unanimously approved a $12,500 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant application for a gear dryer and accepted a $1,000 check from North Brookfield Savings Bank.

The fire chief reported 34 incidents in January and flagged a Humvee needing $3,800 in new tires.
