Sewer board member resigns citing insufficient knowledge

Sewer Department · Meeting of May 12, 2026

NORTH BROOKFIELD — Ralph Kay announces his resignation from the North Brookfield Sewer Commissioner Board. Vice Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Kay stated he lacks the necessary knowledge to adequately assist the department. The Sewer Department discussed a contract renewal with Synagro involving a potential switch from dumpster to railcar for solids waste disposal, with Superintendent Eric Cardenas gathering quotes for required modifications to the dewatering operation.

The facility upgrade project is nearing completion pending USDA approval, with As-Built documentation expected by month's end, and the department reported being $6,000 short of its revenue target as of April 30, 2026.
