North Brookfield Board of Selectmen approves $8,200 police academy sponsorship. Citing persistent recruitment struggles, the Board unanimously approved an $8,200 Reserve Fund allocation for new police officer training; Police Chief Daley reported the department cannot fill vacancies despite competitive pay as candidates pursue opportunities in larger municipalities. The Board also unanimously approved a $25,000 Municipal ADA Grant application for Police Station accessibility improvements and locked in a twelve-month gas supply contract rate at $7.271 per dTherm.
Vice Chair Ralph Kay stated that all recruitment avenues have been exhausted and running understaffed poses safety risks, with existing overtime already elevated.
