North Brookfield Board of Selectmen Approves Combined Water and Sewer Billing Overhaul
North Brookfield Board of Selectmen approves combined water and sewer billing process, plans February rollout.
NORTH BROOKFIELD -- December 16, 2025, North Brookfield Board of Selectmen approves combined water and sewer billing process, plans February rollout. The board voted unanimously at its December 16 meeting to adopt a new consolidated billing framework under which outstanding sewer balances will be paid down first, followed by water balances and then current charges, with $30 demand fees and $30 shut-off notice fees for overdue accounts. Town Administrator Ron said the first combined bills will go out in early to mid-February, with a public informational session scheduled for January 7 at 6 p.m. at the elementary school and notification letters to follow on January 8. The board also approved an approximately $91,000 sewer department truck purchase, designated the temporary snowplow driver position as a special municipal employee to allow cross-departmental staffing during storms, and declared a donated child-size picnic table surplus property, effectively returning it to the donors after a contentious public exchange over the Parks and Recreation Committee's decision to relocate it. Brandon, speaking from the assessor's office, announced the state has approved a new property tax rate of $11.96 per thousand, down from $14.17 last year.
