Finance Committee reduces police and fire vehicle repair budgets

North Brookfield Finance Committee approves $27,500 in police and fire budget reductions. Chair Joseph Trentacosta led the committee in votes on reductions to Police vehicle repair ($2,500), Fire vehicle repair ($15,000), Fire general repair and maintenance ($3,000), and Fire Equipment ($7,000), all approved 5-0. The committee voted 5-0 to rescind a prior reserve-fund appropriation for a Police Chief computer purchase after the April 17 Special Town Meeting approved $14,500 under Article 7 for department computers.
Water Superintendent Jamie Flamand presented water department salary concerns, and Chair Trentacosta outlined the town's 2 percent salary increase cap due to budget constraints, with the committee recommending 2 percent increases for the treasurer, health clerk, and sewer clerk.
