Committee recommends Free Cash for capital vehicle purchases

NORTH BROOKFIELD — Capital Improvement Planning Committee votes to recommend Free Cash for capital vehicles. Members Brandon Avery and Joseph Trentacosta discussed capital requests from the Highway Department for a dump truck and Police Department for a cruiser, both originally proposed for lease financing. Committee member Trentacosta noted that leases constitute debt and must be recorded as liabilities; following consultation with the Town Accountant about the town's debt obligations, the committee recommended the Board of Selectmen approve purchasing both vehicles using available Free Cash from fiscal year 2026.
