North Brookfield selectmen confront emergency alert system failure. Only two residents received CodeRed alerts about an unscheduled Department of Transportation paving emergency on North Main Street with less than 24 hours notice, prompting Chair Jamie Gilman to label the outcome a "glaring deficiency" in crisis notification. The board directed staff to investigate system flaws and report back with improvements.
In other business, the board dissolved the Fire/Highway Building Committee and Downtown Development Committee, accepted resignations from seven officials, approved a $75,017.68 contract for Mad Brook Bridge engineering, a $20,156.40 allocation for Complete Streets sidewalk work, and a $3,000 grant for the Council on Aging.
